We're getting our art on, y'all!

Day four!

Our third and final full day in Rome! I know it's the day after, but I was waaaaaay too tired last night to make a new post. We actually got to sleep in a little later since we didn't have a tour to be at. My body needed that extra hour. After our daily delicious breakfast we headed to the metro station to make our way to the Colosseum! Every time we get on the metro I have the desire to become Terri Nunn and belt out some Berlin. I was concerned with not knowing where to go once we exited the station, but was soon put at ease when this was the scene across from the station ...

Castle Black?!?

Day three!

Day three had  a looooot going on! We had a tour of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica, lunch in Vatican city, saw Castel Sant' Angelo (Castle Black according to Mila and I), then went to the Spanish step (which were covered up unfortunately) and headed back to our hotel. 10 miles of walking in our 9ish hours out today! I'm exhausted, but it's toooootally worth it!

Ciao Italia!

Day two!

Today, which seemed to be 36 hours long, was packed with awesome sight seeing and cool pictures! The places I remember visiting were the Pantheon, Fontana di Trevi, and Santa Maria della Minerva. I am EXHAUSTED since I've been awake since 7:45 Wednesday morning (it now being 2:43 Thursday afternoon back home) so I'm just going to share some pictures! Hope you don't mind! :)

We're goin to Italy, y'all!

Day one!

The first stop on our way to Rome was Detroit, MI. While it may not seem like something to post about, I had to share the coolest thing I've seen in an airport to date! There was a tram inside the airport. Yes, you read that right. A tram ... INSIDE the airport! I mean, how cool is that!?!

Well, after a quick bite on our lay over that was a little over an hour, we loaded our plane to Italy!

Off To Italia!

I know, I know ... it's been almost 5 months since I last posted! Let me tell ya, the end of the school year was absolutely insane! And it didn't stop there! After a couple of days off, I had workshops, summer school, got to actually spend Father's Day with my dad, more workshops, helping mom get ready for a 4th of July party and now ... I'm off to Italy! My Aunt and Cousin invited me to go with them overseas this summer and I'm excited and nervous all at the same time (nervcited!). I'm more than sure I'll take a ton of pictures and hopefully I'll get them uploaded on here!

I feel like I have waaaaay too much on my travel checklist ... but it is 3 cities in 10 days and all the way across the ocean! Narrowing down make up was not the easiest! Well, off to my Aunt's to stay the night before we head out across the pond! Hope everyone is having their own blast this summer!

Arrivederci America! Ciao Italia! Happy vacationing!

Styluses ... Styli' ... Those tablet things!

I had to make a quick run to Clovis last night to finish getting some Valentine stuff for the classroom and things to make a basketball shirt (for the last home game ... I'm a little behind!). When I ran into Big Lots I went by the electronics to see if I could find any inexpensive styluses for the classroom. We do a lot of Nearpod assessments since I saw it on A Kinder Kindergarten blog post back in November. The kids use their fingers and we tried a homemade stylus that just wasn't working well, so we needed something.

Zucchini and Squash Chips!

Soooo remember how I said I had some produce I needed to get rid of? Yeah, I still have a LOT to get rid of. So for one of my Super Bowl Sunday snacks, I made zucchini and squash chips! I usually toss my zucchini and squash in some Weber's and olive oil and roast it because I can never get the breading to stick on them, but this time it worked really well.

Currently February

AAAAHHHHHH! It's been February for a week now! What happen to January!?! Since I've been slacking on my personal blog for the past month, I guess now's as good a time as any to start up again! Because I LOVE it and don't want to miss out, I'm linking up with Farley again for this month's Currently!

Pizza Bites!

A couple of weeks ago I went grocery shopping. I'm not sure why considering I knew I was going to spend most of my time at school with no time to cook! Yesterday I remembered all this produce I had that needed to get cooked and eaten ASAP before it went bad! I love making French bread and pizza dough and had all these veggies ... so pizza bites it was! and they were gooooooood.

Homemade Pizza Dough!

Being single and having virtually no one to cook for means either having to adapt a recipe, eat the same time for an entire week unless you let it go bad, or just make your own version from scratch. I prefer to make my own from scratch. And that's exactly what I choose to do when it comes to things like pizza! Here's my recipe for homemade pizza dough!

Rebuild Rowlett!

First off, I just want to say how AWESOME my hometown is! Yesterday, mom and I went to volunteer our time at First United Methodist Church (where my mom goes to church). This was our second day up there after taking cases of water to help out those who were displaced and those who were working to take supplies and clear debris. It has been so overwhelming to see this community come together and donating their money, belongings and time.

This afternoon I finished a couple of Rowlett themed packs. All of the profits from these packs will be donated to organizations through Rowlett Recovers. Information on the different organizations can be found here.
